Characters are any beings in RuneScape. There are two main categories of characters, those that are controlled by other humans, referred to as players. The others are non-player characters, commonly referred to as NPCs.
Characters in business[]
Many different characters are involved in the business aspect of RuneScape.
NPCs[]
Many non-player characters can sell or give the player items. Some items are only available from these characters, while others can be bought from them, but can be received elsewhere. Other NPCs can give players items for free, which players can use as a small source of money and materials.
Players[]
Players affect the economy of RuneScape the most. Many players sell and buy items, and some form into small businesses. These businesses can gather raw materials and either sell them to others or produce finished goods to put on the market. Players selling and buying of items also affects the price of goods, if the trading was done through the Grand Exchange.
